Zen Who?

Of course Zen is nothing more than my pen-name.

I’m 25 and am back in school studying finance. If I’m ever not blogging, I’m tied up in school.

I’m married, and we are expecting a baby boy July 30th.

I have a dog named Josephine.

I’ve blogged for years on Live journal, but this is my first serious attempt at writing specifically for consumption.

I make a wicked Guinness Chocolate Cake.

I am curious about the difference
between a website and a blog address
Your address looks like a website
but comes up as a blog. When I
clicked on the popwered by Silver
button I was sent to an ad for
Lexus so I am not sure what that
    meant.

    Hello,

I’ve been an avid reader of your blog for quite some time now and really appreciate all the advice and tips that you’ve passed on to your readers. I recently started my own finance-related blog for providing tips on saving, as well as the best cd rates, savings accounts, credit card deals, and bank promotions, and was wondering if you would be interested in a link exchange. My blog is located at thepiggybanker.com. I’d really appreciate it; thanks for your time and consideration.

    Regards,

    Hi Zen,

PerkStreet Financial, provider of the best debit card rewards in the US, today announced the first 2% cash back program for debit card users. The new offer lets families save up to $600 a year without cutting back on their spending. It’s superior to all debit offers (50x better than average) and most credit card reward offers today.

Americans are already making the switch from credit to debit and now that they can get rewards for spending wisely they have even more reason to avoid racking up charges on high interest rate cards.

How can newcomer PerkStreet afford to do what most large banks and credit cards cannot? Simple, they don’t spend billions on branches. Instead they are investing in their customers with free checking, better rewards, great customer service and the largest network of free ATMs in the U.S.

To kick off summer, PerkStreet is also offering 5% cash back for purchases in popular summer spending categories during the remainder of June and through July (including ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s, Culvers, Dairy Queen and Cold Stone Creamery; home improvement goods from Lowes, Home Depot and Menards; and gas paid for at the pump). Current PerkStreet customers can also take advantage of 5% cash back at all Apple Stores from June 24-27. With PerkStreet, consumers get rewards they love without having to pay membership fees or jump through hoops to earn those rewards.

I’ve included the press release below for your review. I’d like to introduce you to Dan O’Malley, PerkStreet’s CEO (Dan co-founded Capital One’s Payments Divisions and launched its prepaid business).

Let me know if I can connect you with Dan to discuss more details on the new 2% cash back offering.

    Thanks,

    John Cassillo

American families can now earn over $600 cash back each year just for using a debit card

The first debit card to offer 2 percent cash back for all your everyday spending is here

BOSTON, MA – June 23, 2010 – PerkStreet FinancialSM, the progressive online financial services company with the best checking account rewards in the United States, is now offering the first 2 percent cash back program for debit card users. In addition to 2 percent cash back, customers can earn up to 5 percent cash back when they spend at preferred merchants or in specified categories (like gas or home improvement). The typical American family can now earn over $600 annually for their everyday spending, without having to pay membership fees or jump through hoops to earn the rewards.

The new PerkStreet Financial Visa® Debit Card even puts more cash back into customers’ hands than most “high interest” checking programs. Consumers no longer need to take on annual fees or grow their debt just to get great rewards.

To kick the summer off, PerkStreetSM is offering 5 percent cash back to customers who purchase gas, home improvement goods and/or ice cream (at selected merchants) during the remainder of June and the month of July, 2010. In addition, PerkStreet will be announcing many other special opportunities to earn up to 5 percent throughout the year.

“With this offer we’re beating many credit card rewards programs in the market today, which is unheard of for a debit card. And when it comes to debit card rewards, it’s really not even a fair comparison,” said Dan O’Malley, CEO of PerkStreet Financial. “If you’ve been spending on credit cards just to get rewards, this is the alternative you’ve been looking for. Imagine, finally being rewarded for spending wisely.”

PerkStreet customers can earn 2 percent cash back on all non-PIN debit card purchases when they have a daily opening balance of at least $5,000 in their checking account. Customers will continue to earn PerkStreet’s standard 1 percent cash back on all non-PIN debit card purchases even when their account balance is less than $5,000 — still 25 times better than the average debit card rewards program. PerkStreet is offering a three month grace period before the balance requirement takes effect.

PerkStreet is changing the way banking is done, offering customers 50 times* more rewards than the average debit card, and rewarding them for spending intelligently using debit, not interest-bearing credit cards. Because the company doesn’t waste billions on bank branches, PerkStreet can pass that savings on to its customers in the form of fun rewards (cash back, music, coffee).

PerkStreet’s development cycle is under three months, compared to the one- to two-year development cycle at a typical bank. Several new products and offerings to further simplify banking and better serve customers are under development and scheduled to launch in 2010, including a secure remote capture application that will let customers make mobile check deposits by simply snapping a picture of the check and uploading it to their account.

    Hey,

I recently came across your site Financial Zen and noticed there is a potentially great fit for us to work together.

I’m with Manilla, a service that is 100% free and allows users to organize and manage their bills and other accounts (such as banking and brokerage accounts, travel rewards programs and more) from one easy-to-use site. They are in their 3rd year, owned by the Hearst Corporation and have partnerships with brands such as AT&T, Citibank, Comcast and DirecTV.

The offer coverts at upwards of 25% and pays out at $3 per lead.

You can get more info as well as sign up to become an affiliate through our Impact Radius program here:

I look forward to working together and being in touch soon. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
